The dishwasher

The dishwasherSOME SUGGESTIONS

1. To avoid wasting electricity, it is suggested to fully load the dishwasher prior to using it.
2. If it is difficult to fully load the dishwasher, perhaps it would be wise to choose a model with a smaller tub or even a washing program that allow half-tub washing cycles.
3. It is recommended, however, to always choose a dishwasher with an anti-flooding system.
4. In order to avoid risks due to overheating or overflows, carefully evaluate the safety devices that control both the electrical and hydraulic systems of the dishwasher.

MAINTENANCE

Carefully clean the filters periodically following the manufacturers instructions. In order to avoid water stagnation or food residuals, which may be the cause of unpleasant odours, be sure to dry the gasket of the door after each use as indicated in the instructions manual.
To operate correctly, dishwashers require components such as salt and a sparkle agent: the salt is used to soften the hardness of the water, whilst the rinse aid contributes to the sparkling appearance of the items washed and dried. The rinse aid may be replaced by vinegar.

DID YOU KNOW THAT...

For the stains on a glass:
fill the glass with water and add a spoonful of ammonia and let it rest for 12 hours. If the stain does not disappear, rub it with some sodium bicarbonate without, however, using any abrasives or steel-wool otherwise the glass will remain scratched.

For plates that remain opaque after being washed in the dishwasher:
place a container with two cups of white vinegar in the lower basket of the dishwasher and then start the normal washing cycle.

To wash silver cutlery:
use only hot water and dry the cutlery immediately once the washing cycle has completed.

To shine silver cutlery:
use a cloth that has been soaked in milk and lemon juice. For difficult stains, simply use a sponge and some fine salt.

To always obtain shiny glassware:
periodically place them into a container with hot water, vinegar and chopped potato peels. Dry them carefully and they will continue to shine. If the problem is to remove the stains that form on the bottom of a crystal vase, simply pour some vinegar and thick salt into the vase and shake it.
Crystal ware should be washed at low temperatures. Glassware may be washed in the dishwasher without taking any particular precaution.

Plastic:
Check that these articles may be washed in a dishwasher and if so, they should never be placed close to the heating elements.

Wood:
In order to avoid cracking, cutting boards and similar articles should never be washed in a dishwasher.
